Version 0.3.0 – Bing (MSN) translator

We are proud to add support in this release to a second translation engine. This one is the Bing (MSN) translator by Microsoft.

The results it gives are quite different from the ones you get from Google translate, sometimes better, sometimes worse.

A minor setback for default activation is that this service is still in beta and an invite is required, We have a very small amount we can share so if you want one, just comment on this post, first comes – first served basis.

Also – we haven’t activated Bing translator as a default automatic translator yet and we would like to hear your opinions on that. If enough people request this feature, we will put more effort into enable this in the coming release. In the meanwhile – you are welcomed to test this feature on this site, just start translating and use the Bing suggest button.

Version 0.2.9 – Bug fixes

The last few days were used to fix some bugs reported by our users. Full credits are given in the change log. We would like to thank everyone who is reporting bugs to us because it helps us improve this software for everyone.

We also enjoy supporting you and are trying to leave no stones unturned in order to help you, feel free to contact us, and if we haven’t answered within a reasonable period – just contact us again!

We were also asked about donations (twice this week). So first – at this point we don’t accept any money donations (although we appreciate your intentions) but we do accept a few other forms of donations. Donate us time by sending bug reports (and even better, patches 😉 ) , spread the knowledge about this plugin by writing something in your blogs or favorite forums, vote for this plugin in the wordpress plugin directory so more people will use it and finally – you can always help us by checking and translating this site to your mother-tongues.

Version 0.2.8 – CSS Sprites

The new version adds experimental support for CSS sprites. This reduces the page load times (when applicable) and improves the Google’s page speed and Yahoo’s Yslow scores. There is also a set of back-end code which allows sprites to be created to fit one’s needs (if you have only six flags and not 40, why use a 12k image?). This is not yet available – but we can give the correct files to anyone who needs them, just contact us or comment on this post. We would also like to specially thank Marek Fišer for his help with the css which allowed us to get rid of the now useless blank.gif, not only in the css files but also in the translation interface.

A few bugs were fixed in this version, ranging from using livewriter to the problem with returning to the original language in the widget, the change log is your friend here.

Another request – please use our trac (trac.transposh.org) to file bugs, this helps us (and you) get better responses and tracking on bugs progress, and also allows us to avoid duplicate work.

Version 0.2.7 – Iranian “elections”

Thanks to the latest Iranian elections google have added Persian support to google translate, We have decided to follow suit. If you want – you are now able to have your wordpress site translated to Farsi or from Farsi. Just go to the administrative interface and add this language, its that simple. Nothing else is new, yet.

Version 0.2.6 – Regressions begone

You might notice there was no announcement about 0.2.5. The reason for that was quite simple as the first regression bug was discovered before we were able to post the announcement. Those two version aimed to fix some problem with url replacements happening with different language and we hope that 0.2.6 will nail that. We would like to thank all of those who reported bugs and helped with testing. And we hope we’ll have less and less of those quick fix releases in the future.
