Transposh updatesHello there,
The best way to advance is with the help of the community, and we wanted to let everybody know what’s going on and what’s the best possible way to keep track on what we are doing.

  • If you are a user and want to get quick support and get notified about new happenings, feel free to follow us on twitter.
  • If you want to be more involved in the community, want to help others and brag about with your site using transposh, we now have a page on facebook.
  • If you want to know what the developers are doing, know about coming features before they are released and generally like to live on the edge, follow our trac site trac RSS.
  • If you just want to follow the announcements on this site, the RSS symbol (either below or at your browser address line) is your friend. You will get this feed in the language you are currently using.

Comments are always accepted too (and we try to get back as quickly as we can). If you have other suggestions/ideas/advices/witty post titles – just let us know.

Transposh aims to make your site much more accessible to others, which naturally includes search engines. This in turn allows more users to get to your site and find your content (even if originally it was written in a language they can’t understand). This site serves as a perfect example, originally written in German, when its great content became translated (and therefor much more available) its reach skyrocketed 😉

CSS sprites coming

The next version, which is coming at the end of next week will include support for css sprites for the flag widget. This have advantages in terms of speed and number of requests made to the web server. The code is already active on this site and we would appreciate that you let us know of any issues you encounter on the client side (non standard browsers – IE6, etc).

Anyone that want to take the code for a spin, is more than welcomed to contact us to get the pre-release code.

Going faster, simpler

The next version of the plugin will be released in the coming week. Final testing is being done as I am writing this. This is a relatively major release as we have changed the parser component to simplehtmldom. The new parser offers more features (main one is the ability to translate tooltips and hidden elements) while being 50% faster than the previous version. Simpler code also means it will be easier to add features and fix bugs in the future.
